Featured in Bold Journey: A Look at My Approach to Trauma Therapy

I was recently featured in Bold Journey, where I shared more about my work as a trauma therapist and the heart behind Flourish Therapy and Wellness.

If you’ve ever felt like you are holding everything together on the outside but struggling underneath, this conversation may resonate.

I work with women in Schertz, Cibolo, and Northeast San Antonio who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that don’t seem to change, even with insight or effort. Many are high functioning, capable, and deeply caring, yet feel like they can never fully exhale or feel at ease in their own lives.

One of the things I shared in the interview is this:

“I didn’t just want to help people cope. I wanted them to actually understand what was happening inside of them and experience real change.”

For many women, therapy has been about managing symptoms or getting through the week. While that can be helpful, it often does not create the kind of lasting change they are hoping for.

My approach focuses on working beneath the surface. Using EMDR, parts work, and somatic approaches, we begin to gently address what is driving patterns at their root. This allows change to be experienced not just intellectually, but emotionally and physically as well.

Another part of the conversation that often resonates is this:

“I’ve seen how easy it is to live in survival mode and call it normal.”

Over time, patterns like overfunctioning, emotional numbing, or constant striving can start to feel like just how life is. Therapy creates space to slow down, understand what is happening, and begin relating to yourself in a different way.
