EMDR Therapy in Schertz, TX

When insight alone is not changing how you feel.

Sometimes people come to therapy already understanding their patterns.

They know why they overthink.
They understand where the anxiety comes from.
They can trace the people pleasing, shutdown, or emotional overwhelm back to earlier experiences.

But even with insight, their nervous system still reacts like it has to stay on guard.

EMDR therapy can help when experiences still feel emotionally stuck, even years later.

What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is an evidence based therapy approach designed to help people process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences.

While EMDR is often associated with trauma and PTSD, many people seek EMDR therapy because they feel stuck in patterns that no longer make sense logically, but still feel deeply wired into their nervous system.

This may look like:

  • anxiety or panic

  • emotional overwhelm

  • people pleasing

  • perfectionism

  • difficulty relaxing

  • feeling emotionally reactive

  • shutting down during conflict

  • chronic stress or burnout

  • negative self beliefs

  • feeling disconnected from yourself

Sometimes overwhelming experiences remain emotionally “stuck,” causing the mind and body to continue reacting as though the danger is still present. EMDR helps those experiences feel less emotionally activating over time so the nervous system no longer has to work so hard to stay protected.

What Does EMDR Therapy Feel Like?

One of the biggest misconceptions about EMDR is that therapy will feel emotionally overwhelming or force people to relive painful experiences.

That is not how I approach this work.

EMDR should feel collaborative, grounded, and manageable. We move at a pace your nervous system can tolerate, with a strong focus on safety, emotional regulation, and helping you stay connected to the present throughout the process.

You do not have to share every detail of your trauma for therapy to be effective.

Many people are surprised to learn that EMDR is not just about processing memories. It is also about helping the body learn that it no longer has to stay in survival mode all the time.

What EMDR Can Help With

  • Childhood Trauma

  • Complex Trauma

  • Anxiety and Panic

  • Emotional Overwhelm

  • Attachment Wounds

  • Difficult Relationship Patterns

  • People Pleasing and Perfectionism

  • Chronic Stress and Burnout

  • Shame and Negative Self Beliefs

  • Grief and Loss

  • Medical Trauma

  • Feeling Emotionally Numb, Reactive, or Disconnected

Many of the women I work with are deeply caring, capable people who have spent years holding everything together while quietly feeling overwhelmed underneath it all.

From the outside, they may look fine. Internally, they may feel anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or frustrated that insight alone has not created lasting change.

EMDR can help create more space for calm, connection, flexibility, and emotional healing instead of constantly feeling stuck in survival mode.

My Approach to EMDR Therapy

I do not believe healing happens through rigid protocols or pushing people faster than their nervous system is ready for.

My approach to EMDR is relational, collaborative, and grounded in nervous system awareness. I integrate EMDR with attachment focused work, parts work, DBT informed skills, and emotional regulation support depending on each person’s needs.

Some people need more stabilization before trauma processing.
Some need help reconnecting with emotions they have spent years shutting down.
Some need permission to slow down for the first time in a very long time.

Therapy is not about “fixing” you. It is about helping us understand why your mind and body adapted the way they did while creating new experiences of safety, connection, and regulation over time.
